Natural GAS
Welcome Homeowners, Renters and Property Owners!
The most energy efficient homes in Florida use electricity where it is necessary and natural gas where it is better. You need electricity for lights, televisions, and refrigerators, but natural gas is better for your larger energy requirements.
The energySMART program has cash rebates available to customers that are either SWITCHING their electric or propane appliances to natural gas or REPLACING older natural gas appliances with new, high-efficiency, natural gas models.
Why Natural Gas Appliances?
Choosing natural gas means you’re committed to your family’s comfort and being environmentally responsible. Water heats more quickly, clothes dry faster and fluffier and your home is cozier, all with fewer carbon emissions which contribute to global warming. There are lots of little things you can do to reduce your impact on the planet – choosing natural gas is a smart, sustainable way to start.
Tax Credits for Energy-Efficient Appliances
The American Taxpayer Relief Act extends the tax credit of up to $500 for homeowners who install qualified energy-efficient appliances such as high-efficiency furnaces and hot water heaters. This residential tax incentive for existing homes was extended retroactively for 2012 and goes through 2013. Get more information as well as a link to the IRS Residential Energy Credit form. Check the requirements to see if your equipment is eligible.

Most people know propane as the fuel in a white container attached to a barbecue grill. But propane has long proven its versatility for heating homes, heating water, cooking, drying clothes, fueling gas fireplaces, and lighting and heating outdoor living spaces.
Propane is used by more than 12.6 million U.S. households for space heating and other purposes and by millions of other Americans for agricultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation applications. As a clean, versatile energy source, propane is frequently used for space heating, water heating, cooking, fireplaces, and clothes drying. In outdoor spaces, propane is a widely used energy source for outdoor grills, lighting, and heating for pools and spas. When electric power goes out, propane is often the energy that powers standby generators.
Propane is an approved clean alternative fuel listed in the 1990 Clean Air Act.
